I applied the Zigzag filter to the image created on the previous page. Choose Filter > Distort > Zigzag, and use a 100 % Amount, and 7 % Ridges to get the effect shown below. The filter was applied to Layer 1. A filter affects the selected layer, only, so you can see the straight, unfiltered lines of the base layer showing through.

I’ll make an entirely new image, now. Same technique, different colors. The base layer, shown below is in a pale, lime green. I added a layer on top of that using a medium blue. Again, I used Web safe swatch colors.
     It takes time to get a pattern of colors you like with the angle gradient tool, but there is no limit to how long you can try. Clicking is a lot easier than painting. Multiple examples of the complex images created with these two layers are shown on the following pages.
