[Please note that your results will apply to the specific paper and printer settings that you use when you print the test image that you will build using the following method. To find the color correction needed for a different paper or using other printer settings, reprint the test image using the new paper and/or settings.]
This is a lo-tech way to get prints from your desktop printer that are reasonably close to what you see on your monitor. Many people, myself included, have a hard time figuring out the hi-tech instructions for calibration, and color management which are in the Adobe manual. 		next

Displacing Textures 		Start with an image, any image, opened in Photoshop. I’m going to use this puppy. It doesn’t have to be ideal, or correct. It does need to be in color, and more than two inches square in size.
     Next, create a new document by choosing File > New and filling in the dialog box, as shown below except for the resolution setting. The new document should be the same resolution as the image you have open on the screen. If you don’t know the resolution of your image, click on its title bar to make it active, and then choose Image > Image Size. Your image’s resolution will be shown near the bottom of the Image Size dialog box.
