Please note that I have not worked through the tutorials on these sites, and am not recommending them to you as being either good or bad. I have checked to see that the sites are there, and that they appear to have useful content.

The list below is for the more enduring Photoshop sites, only. I would recommend going to the Good Tutorials site to find an extensive, current list of tutorials.]

Search Engines, Directories, and Link Lists

Good Tutorials - Claims to have more than 5,000 Photoshop tutorials. That's a lot of links. Very nicely done site. Recommended.
PlanetPhotoshop.com - The Web portal for Adobe Photoshop resources and information.
PS Workshops - Tutorial index listing individual tutorials. More than 550 tutorials currently listed.

Basic Techniques

Adobe Photoshop User Forums - (Windows and Macintosh) Not tutorials, but a very good place to ask questions, or just lurk, and learn. Before posting a question, be sure and use Forum Search to see if the same question hasn’t already been asked and answered. Also check the forum FAQ. This is at the official adobe.com site. This link goes to the main forums page. Look for the Photoshop/Imageready forum, not the Elements, or LE ones.
Adobe Photoshop Basics - A free online course from About.com’s Graphics Software section. Not complete but has good content so far. Also, forums for Q and A.

Special Effects

Adobe.com Photoshop Tutorials - Several extensively illustrated tutorials for special effects by leading Photoshop experts.
Photoshop Cafe - Forty one tutorials on how to create special effects. Site also has other Photoshop resources.
Russell Brown’s Tips - Numerous good tutorials. Available only as Quicktime movies. Note that many of the movie files are very big. If you have a slow connection, it will take quite a while to download them.

Image Editing

The Luminous Landscape - Michael Reichmann offers a tutorial called “Instant Photoshop” aimed specifically at digital photographers new to the program.
RetouchPro - Community site for those interested in photographic retouching. Forums and tutorials.

Color Management and Scanning

A Few Scanning Tips - Wayne Fulton’s collection of basic and intermediate level scanning tips. More than a ‘few.’
Bruce Fraser at CreativePro.com - Index of all his articles and reviews. Scroll to the Features section to find excellent articles on color management.
Computer Darkroom - Ian Lyons’ site with tutorials on Photoshop color management, and scanning.
Normen Koren Photography - Covers color management, scanning and printing. Extensive information.
